Curious about balboa? Tired of answering “uh, kind of?” when someone asks if you know bal? Alex and Brennan will be teaching an accelerated workshop for experienced lindy hoppers looking to learn balboa technique and core moves. This workshop will teach balboa footwork, connection technique, and a set of moves including come arounds, side scoots, paddles, crab walks, out and ins, swivels, sailor kicks, lolly kicks, and throw outs. The workshop will include four hours of instruction and a one hour practice guided by the instructors. Workshops will begin at 12pm. Please arrive a few minutes early to warm up and get ready.
Alex and Brennan DeVoe are balboa dancers and teachers based in Philadelphia. They organize much of the local balboa scene in Philly, including the workshop Phila-bal-phia, and provide logistical support to several large weekend events. As teachers, they focus on clear technique instruction, scaffolding, and a chatty, relaxed class environment to support students of all levels. They have placements from many bal competitions and have taught all around the East Coast (and one time in a church basement in England).
Registration goes up Saturday, Nov 2. Full passes only at this time.
