Lindy 3 - RECITAL EDITION
Lindy 3 - RECITAL EDITION
This class requires that you’ve completed Lindy 2 at least twice through and get permission from an instructor to join. We will continue to introduce new moves and vocabulary, but a much heavier emphasis will be laid on partnering and structuring a dance--transitioning between steps and combining moves to create something original. Most importantly, we are going to teach you how to cook and then chill: you’re going to dance to different kinds of music differently and communicate shifting levels of intensity to your partner. This is the stage at which dance becomes a conversation.
Just like Lindy 2, this class will cover more material than you can master in an hour/week, so outside practice is crucial.
Special Session!
This session of Lindy Hop classes will lead up to our student recital on Wednesday, April 9th. This means that both the Lindy 2 and the Lindy 3 classes will be learning choreography that they will perform as a group. You will still learn moves and technique, but a lot of the focus will be on working as a team and polishing your dancing.
The recital is a favorite event of students and teachers alike, and it’s a chance for you to practice performing and show your non-dance friends what you’ve been up to. It’s essentially a children’s recital, but for adults. We take the learning seriously and ourselves less seriously, as it’s all for fun.
Date of the Recital: April 9th (two showings; we will split each class in half so that everyone gets a chance to perform) and a possible addition of Monday, April 7th or Tuesday, April 8th (depending on the size of each class).
Class Dates:
Wednesdays 2/26-4/2, 9-10pm - Lindy 3 Routine with Hannah and Jon
Potential Extra Rehearsal Times (optional): Sunday 4/6, Monday 4/7 (if we don't have an extra recital), Periodic Sundays from 3-5 during the session
Please note: The recital and the class session leading up to it are always chaos, and this year will be no different. That is part of the charm. Please enter the session with an attitude of making it fun, encouraging your fellow students, and not taking yourself too seriously.
Our classes are currently capped at 50ish students. If the class sells out, please email sarah@mobtownballroom.com to be placed on the waitlist (maybe we will add more classes!).
