Beats are visually stunning and give you interesting sequencing options- and more than that, they're fun! We will deconstruct the anatomy and body mechanics of different kinds of beats and the skills that grow out of them. Students will leave with exercises and techniques to keep their joints happy, healthy and flying in this dynamic movement.
Pre-reqs: Students should have strong in-air straddle ups, and the stamina to climb to the top twice without touching the ground. Taught by Sable Stewart
Here at the Mobtown Ballroom, we fight like tigers to keep classes relaxed, fun, and balanced. Having a general idea of how many leads and follows are signed up makes this possible. So, if you need to cancel a class because of a werewolf attack, impending apocalypse, or any other reason, we are happy to refund you or give you credit towards a future class as long as you let us know at least 24 hours before the class starts. We do not refund or give credit for individual classes missed during a series, because missed classes throw off the balance and make your fellow students grumpy. If we’re going to teach grumpy people, we might as well still get paid for it. In certain situations we will allow you to attend the other class that week (for instance, if you miss Lindy 2 on Wednesday, we will let you attend Friday of that week), but please let instructors know ahead of time. Sunday practices (3-5pm) are a good way to make up what you missed in class, and it’s free. In general, we will go a long way to make sure that you are up to speed.
