Covid Policy for Circus

Physical Distancing

Limit to 1 student per apparatus and mat for all classes. Common use rosin and chalk bins are eliminated. All students must bring their own and keep in a personal container labeled with their name. There will be rosin and chalk bags available for purchase at the studio and preorder - via PayPal only - we will not be handling cash. All patrons must wear a mask upon entering and during their time in the studio. Warm ups will be conducted with at least 10’ between each individual. No visitors will be permitted inside the studio until further notice. Teachers will not be utilizing hands on spotting until further notice. All of our instructors are highly trained and will use verbal communication for all instruction. Students are only allowed to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of their class. Students are only allowed to stay in the studio 10 minutes after their class has ended.

Protective Equipment

Students and instructors must bring appropriate facial covering with you to the studio. If anyone needs to take their mask off for any reason, they must move at least 25’ away from the aerial area. Before returning to the apparatus you must use hand sanitizer/wash hands for at least 20 seconds. 80% alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be available for use whenever needed at the studio. All instructors and students will be required to wash their hands/apply hand sanitizer prior to entering the aerial/class zone of the studio.

Hygiene & Cleaning

After each use of aerial fabrics (after each class), they will be de-rigged and quarantined for at least 24 hours to ensure decontamination. After each use of the Lyra, students are to wipe down all hard surfaces of their apparatus with the alcohol-based cleanser/sanitizing with a cloth after each class. All Trapeze students are to wipe down all hard surfaces on their bar after class. Trapezes are then to be placed in quarantine for at least 24 hours after use. All students must wipe down their mat after class using alcohol-based cleanser/sanitizing with a cloth. We will not be using the span sets on the Lyras until further notice (all moves to be done on the bar only). After the last class of the day instructors must disinfect all door handles and any other common surface before leaving the studio as well as stowing all ITD soaps and disinfectants. Bathrooms will be cleaned at the end of each day.

ITDCA will cooperate with the necessary health personnel and contact tracing in the event that any individual who has participated in studio activities tests positive for COVID-19. The safety plan will remain publicly available and participants will be verbally reminded of protocols at the start of any studio activity. Students will be asked to sign an additional waiver that explains the potential risks of COVID-19, as well as all precautions that ITDCA is taking to mitigate these risks. This is required and MUST be done so electronically. If a student has not done so, they will not be permitted in the studio.

Screening and Testing

Any individual who is sick will be asked to stay home (or return home). Any individual with COVID-19 symptoms will be asked to return home (your coach will read from a check list). Instructors must take the temperature of all students using a no touch thermometer (provided) before the start of class. Any student with a temperature over 100 degrees will be asked to return home.
